Judge Jails Woman Who Criticized Probation Sentence for Pedophile

Judge James Glynn of Hardin County sentenced a woman who screamed obscenities at him for sentencing a pedophile to probation goes to jail.

You guessed it! District Judge James Glynn of Hardin County sentenced Dean Hilpipre, the 51-year-old alcoholic grandfather who repeatedly molested his six-year-old granddaughter, to probation with certain conditions (he must abstain from alcohol, have no contact with his now seven-year-old granddaughter for five years, and undergo sex offender treatment), but he had no mercy for Audra Morgan, the woman who screamed obscenities at him for giving the convicted pedophile such a lenient sentence. He sentenced her to four days in jail and ordered her to pay $200 for her room and board while she was in jail.

According to the Des Moines Register, a psycho-sexual evaluation determined that Dean Hilpipre was at "low risk" for reoffending. The family cried B.S., as do I. What alcoholic pedophile do you know who is at low risk for reoffending? The family was very upset that the judge did not hold Dean Hilpipre accountable for his crimes or keep the abused little girl safe from his predatory behavior. She is afraid to go outside because her grandfather lives three blocks from her house. If Hilpipre had gone to prison, she'd really be safe.

In other news, the Anamosa City Council decided to terminate Bob Simonson, the Anamosa police chief, without discussion. Former police chief Simonson had sent numerous sexist and obscene emails to his staff, including to Amy Ford, a female police officer under his command. When she complained, he retaliated by passing her over for promotion and by refusing to replace her bullet-proof vest, which no longer fit. She won a $750,000 lawsuit for sex discrimination and now works for the Lisbon Police Department.

Dealing with the old boys' network in judges like Judge James Glynn, police chiefs, and other sexist men in power isn't going to be easy, but it's getting somewhat easier.

A bright spot is the increasing number of women who are no longer willing to put up with sex discrimination and mistreatment based on gender. They are collecting on lawsuits and they are putting bullying sexists out of work.

Another bright spot is that the Southern Poverty Law Center has classified male supremacy as "a hateful ideology advocating for the subjugation of women." SPLC includes numerous quotations from male supremacists like Paul Elam as examples of hatred and contempt for women. As far as I know this is a first for the Southern Poverty Law Center.
