Jordan Malone, 22, of Cedar Rapids, was attempting a flip between two planters on the Iowa City pedestrian mall.
The sport is called parkour, or freestyle running.
Malone pulled off a running flip but had to get his timing down before spanning the 10 feet or so gap.
