Muggy with a Chance of Storms to Start the Week: This Week in Iowa City Weather

Remember that nice weather we had this past weekend?

Well keep that in your mind the next few days, because it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Iowa City joins much of Eastern Iowa in a hazardous weather outlook as the temperatures look to get warmer and muggier, bringing with it the chance for severe weather.

Thunderstorms will be possible Monday through wednesday. At this time it appears that strong storms will be possible Monday and again on Tuesday afternoon and evening.  An isolated severe storm is possible with the greatest threats being damaging wind and large hail.

Here is the National Weather Service Forecast for Iowa City for this week.

• Monday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
• Monday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Tuesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Tuesday Night Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Wednesday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80.
• Wednesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
• Thursday Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
• Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
• Friday Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
• Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.
• Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
• Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
• Sunday A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Weather Underground has Iowa City with around a 30 percent chance of precipitation through Wednesday. The 10-day forecast has a chance of rain returning this weekend and next Monday and Tuesday.
