Police: Man Breaks Officer's Finger While Struggling Against Arrest
The man allegedly scuffled with officers after he was stopped for a previous criminal offense.

An Iowa City Police officer received a broken finger during an arrest of a suspect on Tuesday.
According to an Iowa City Police complaint, police stopped Dante Terrell Kent, 24, of Iowa City "for a known criminal violation" at 3:39 p.m. at the intersection of Heinz Road and Scott Boulevard.Â
Kent was asked to step out of his car, but when officers attempted to put on hand cuffs Kent allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Kent was allegedly "physically assaultive" toward officers before he was eventually brought into custody.
An officer later had his finger x-rayed where it was confirmed that he had his finger broken during the altercation, according to the complaint. For this, Kent was charged with interference with official acts with bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Kent was also charged with driving while barred habitual offender, an aggravated misdemeanor, for violating a prohibition on driving which was put into effect from Dec 26, 2012 until Dec. 27, 2014.Â
Kent is currently in the Johnson County Jail on $6,000 bond.
