Student at University of Iowa Summer Camp Reportedly Assaulted in Downtown Iowa City
An Iowa City Police investigation continues into the incident, with no charges having been filed, yet.

Update 4:29 p.m.:
Iowa City Police Sgt. Dave Droll characterized the investigation into the incident as being "ongoing." He did say that an arrest had not been made yet and he wasn't sure if one would be made, although if such an arrest were to be made he said due to the circumstances it would likely be announced with a police press release.
"There hasn't been any sort of a complaint filed yet as far as I am aware of," Droll said, "so a lot of the details aren't going to be put out right now."
Update 4:21 p.m.:
I contacted Tom Moore, University of Iowa spokesman, via e-mail about the incident and his answers were as follows.
I asked about the severity of the assault or if it was sexual in nature. For these questions, Moore deferred to the Iowa City Police Department.
"The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) is conducting the investigation. The ICPD is the appropriate source to contact for information about the status of its investigation," he wrote.
I asked about the severity of the student's injuries, but he said the University has been given clearance by the individual to share that information.
Moore said that these incidents happen rarely, but the University of Iowa still has guidelines to protect students on campus for camps during the summer:
"The guidelines vary by program, but include measures such as not going anywhere without a companion, signing out when you leave and signing in upon returning, and complying with curfew restrictions," Moore said.
