What's Open and Closed on Labor Day in Iowa City

Labor Day related closings for Iowa City.

From the City of Iowa City

City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington Street, will be closed on Monday, September 2 for the Labor Day holiday. Other City facilities that will be closed, or changes that will take place to City services on Labor Day, are as follows:

AIRPORT: The Airport administration office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.

ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION CENTER: Closed.

CABLE TV: The office will be closed.

LANDFILL AND RECYCLING CENTER: Closed.

LIBRARY: Closed.

PARKING: The City's parking ramps will not be cashiered, and parking meters will not be enforced. 
PARKS AND RECREATION: Administrative offices will be closed, but both recreation centers and all three pools will be open the following hours: 
Robert A. Lee Recreation Center: 1 to 8 p.m. Pool opens at 1 p.m.
Mercer / Scanlon: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pool opens at 1 p.m.
City Park Pool: This will be the last day of the season for City Park Pool. Adult lap swim is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with open swim from 1 to 8 p.m. 

POLICE: Administration and Records offices will be closed, but Patrol will operate as usual.

SOLID WASTE: Refuse, recycling, and yard waste will not be collected on Labor Day. Residents on the Monday route should have their materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, although the City cannot determine exactly when items will be collected. Residents on the Tuesday through Friday routes should follow their normal schedule, and have materials at the curb by 7 a.m.

SENIOR CENTER: The Senior Center will be closed, and senior meals will not be served or delivered on Labor Day.

TRANSIT: City buses will not operate. 

WATER: The office will be closed. For a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency number at 319.356.5166.
