When Does the Iowa City Pool Open?
The Iowa City pool is opening later this month, just in time for Memorial Day. Here's the hours.

Â
From Iowa City:
A sure sign that school's almost out and summer's almost here: City Park Pool, located at 200 Park Road Iowa City, will open for the 2013 season on Saturday, May 25. The pool will be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, operating on the following schedule:
•11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Adult lap swim. The wading pool is also open during these hours for families with children under the age of 5.
•1 to 5 p.m.: Public swimÂ
•5 to 8 p.m.: Twilight Swim
Fees are $4 per person, except for Twilight Swim, which offers a reduced rate of $2 per person. No fees are charged for children aged 2 and under.
The pool pass system will change slightly this year, as summer passes will no longer be available. They will be replaced by regular 30-day and annual swim passes which will grant admittance to all three Iowa City pools: Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer / Scanlon, and City Park. Swim passes may be purchased at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center at 220 S. Gilbert Street or the Mercer / Scanlon Center at 2701 Bradford Drive beginning Monday, May 20. Passes are not sold at City Park Pool.Â
Cost of a 30-day swim pass is $18 / single and $36 / family. Annual passes are $194 / single and $388 / family. For non-residents of Iowa City, the cost will be 50% higher. Punch cards with 10 swim punches are also available for $28, or $33 for non-Iowa City residents.Â
A family pass is based on a maximum of five persons, all of whom must be listed on a household tax return. For larger families, additional family members may be added for $2 per person per month. Families are encouraged to get their passes early, as a photo is required to create individual swim passes for each family member.
