Would You Send your Child to a Party School?: Patch Discussion of the Week

Does Iowa's notoriety as a "party university" affect how you view the school?

The national media (and comedian Jimmy Kimmel) had a lot of fun at the expense of the University of Iowa last week after the state's biggest public university was featured as the number one partying public university in America by the Princeton Review.

University of Iowa officials poo-pooed the ranking, and University of Iowa partying students and alumni reacted with gleeful pride.

But what about parents of prospective students. Does Iowa's reputation as a party school make you think twice about supporting attendance at the university despite its excellence in other areas? Or, as some have said, is every school a party school in some sense? Along those lines, is Iowa's number one ranking just a silly contrivance to sell issues of the Princeton Review?
