Sunnybrook Community Church announces an $8M expansion (siouxlandproud.com) — Sunnybrook Community Church in Sioux City is launching an $8 million campus expansion to better serve its thousands of in-person and online worshippers. Plans include a new balcony, a NextGen youth facility, an expanded Hope Center building, and a 300-space parking lot, with work already underway and completion expected in about 18 months. Leaders say the fully contributed $9.1 million raised reflects strong community support.
   

2. Monday's Sioux City City Council meeting jam-packed with decisions (siouxlandproud.com) — Sioux City’s council just made several big moves, from blocking the reappointment of Woodbury County Jail authority chair Ron Wieck to approving a $300,000 wastewater settlement with the state. Members also advanced Knife River’s north-side expansion affecting Headid Little League fields and cleared the way for a renovated Pearl Street building that could bring a new restaurant and offices downtown.
   

3. Cardinals claim 1st win of season in border battle (ktiv.com) — Sioux City North’s boys basketball team fell 73-57 to South Sioux City on Monday, as the Cardinals earned their first win of the season in a border showdown. North drops to 1-4 and will try to rebound on the 16th against Sioux City West, while South Sioux City heads to face Columbus.
   

4. Goodwill program remembers beloved member with dedication ceremony (siouxlandproud.com) — A Sioux City Goodwill day program is honoring Megan, a beloved participant with Down syndrome who recently passed away, by dedicating a new sensory wall inspired by her favorite fidget items. Funded with her memorial money and designed with her love of bright Disney colors in mind, the panel will help calm and comfort other program members for years to come.
   

5. Iowa farm honored as 2025 Sustainable Farm of the Year (ktiv.com) — An O’Brien County family farm near Paullina has been named Niman Ranch’s 2025 Sustainable Farm of the Year, recognizing decades of soil and water conservation work. Their pork ends up packaged at Perdue’s Sioux City facility, tying this regional honor directly to products processed in town and sold to consumers across the area.
