Home dedication for 3 new low-income houses (siouxlandproud.com) — Three Sioux City families are preparing to move into newly built Siouxland Habitat for Humanity homes at Myrtle and 21st Streets near Military Road, after a community dedication ceremony. Each family contributed sweat equity and saved for a down payment, and they’ll begin 30-year mortgages as they settle in around the start of the new year.
   

2. Stray of the Day: Meet Blue (siouxlandproud.com) — In Sioux City, a young rescue dog named Blue is recovering well after being taken in from an animal neglect case and is now ready for adoption. The local shelter says she’s a gentle, loving Dogo Argentino puppy who’s gained weight and confidence. Residents can meet Blue and other adoptable pets online or in person through Sioux City Animal Rescue.
   

3. Man sentenced to 10 years after stabbing cousin during drunken dispute (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Sioux City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after stabbing his cousin during a drunken argument at a South Lyons Street home in October. Prosecutors said the victim needed a six-hour surgery to remove the knife blade. Another relative faces an obstruction of justice charge and is due back in court on December 18.
   

4. Vollertsen's 37 point double double paces Mustangs to top ten win over Briar Cliff (ktiv.com) — Sioux City hoops fans just saw a big rivalry win, as Morningside’s women topped 8th-ranked Briar Cliff 85-73 behind Lily Vollertsen’s 37-point double-double at the Newman-Flanagan Center. Morningside, now 8-3, hosts Doane in Sioux City at 2 p.m. on December 13, while Briar Cliff looks to rebound that same afternoon against Hastings.
   

5. ACLU releases report on license plate readers in Iowa (ktiv.com) — Automated license plate cameras are already scanning vehicles in the Sioux City metro, including systems added in Sioux City in 2024 and a new reader approved in April 2025 to aid Sergeant Bluff police. A new ACLU of Iowa report argues these statewide readers threaten privacy and urges lawmakers to regulate how police collect and use this data.
