Here are the top three stories today in Bowling Green:

  1. Presidential candidate Asa Hutchinson will be visiting Bowling Green to speak at the Republican Party event being held at the Corvette Museum. Hutchinson will be the event's first keynote speaker who isn't from Kentucky. Hutchinson was the youngest U.S. attorney in the country in 1982 and has served two terms in the House of Representatives. The visit to Kentucky, and Bowling Green specifically, will be very special. Kentucky is not considered a state as "important" to the presidential election because it is not a swing state, making his presence at the event very significant. (Bowling Green Daily News)
  2. O-I will be breaking ground on a $240 million glass facility on Apr. 14. The glass facility will be setting new standards of sustainable glass manufacturing using renewable energy and gas-oxy fuel and other solutions and technologies. The company plans to invest to create more expansions and expects to create 140 new jobs when all of its phases are complete. (Glass International)
  3. The International Center of Kentucky in Bowling Green is continuing to see new refugees arriving in the county. Since the beginning of the year, the agency has seen refugees arrive in Warren County from Afghanistan, Burma, and The Republic of the Congo. The Agency helps refugees find permanent housing and jobs and gets refugees into language learning programs and kids into the school systems. The influx of refugees is not expected to slow down any time soon since the agency's "pipeline" is lined up with many refugees who are already assigned to immigrate to Bowling Green while they are still overseas.
