Here are the top three stories in Bowling Green today:

  1. Gubernatorial candidate Kelly Craft visited Bowling Green yesterday, Apr. 11, where she discussed drug penalties, education, and Senate Bill 150. Craft visited Bowling Green's Mr. B's Pizza and Wings, where she expressed her support for the controversial bill, which aims to halt gender-affirming care for transgender youth and requires schools to craft a bathroom policy regarding transgender students. Craft also said that she would crack down on harsher enforcement of drug dealers and work to combat drug trafficking in the state of Kentucky. Her first action, if she is elected governor, is to tear down and rebuild the Kentucky Board of Education. (WBKO)
  2. MyXR, Inc. will be bringing a new regional headquarters to Western Kentucky University's (WKU) Innovation Campus Headquarters. MyXR, Inc. specializes in augmented reality and engagement platforms. Its new headquarters will occupy a 1,200-square-foot space and open up 60 new jobs in the region. Buddy Steen, CEO of the WKU Innovation Campus, said that he is excited to see companies like MyXR, Inc. join the storytelling and emerging tech scene. The new space will allow the company to further its development of augmented reality and research more ways to apply it. (wnky.com)
  3. The Bowling Green Fire Department has broken ground on new Fire Station 8 in the Kentucky Transpark. The new station will cost $4.1 million to build and will be staffed by 12 people, four working per shift. The new station is expected to be able to serve an area that is rapidly growing with the industry and will be specifically focused on fighting industrial fires. The new station will cut down on response times to fires around Bowling Green and will ultimately help make the area safer. The timeline for completion is one year. (wnky.com)
