Here are the top three stories in Bowling Green today:
- A teen overdose death in February has led to the arrest of a Bowling Green man and woman. Keyara Rose, 22, and Robert Watkins, 32, have been arrested in connection with a death after a 17-year-old was found dead in Watkins' bedroom on Feb. 8. Investigators found that Rose had "trafficked M-30 fentanyl pills to the deceased victim the day before his death." After further investigation, police found Watkins had dealt the pills to Rose. Both individuals are facing numerous charges and will be arraigned later this month. (WBKO)
- A standoff lasting eight hours on Johnson Drive has officially ended peacefully with two arrests. Portions of Johnson Drive were blocked off by police on Friday as they tried to make contact with Adrian C. Barnes, 37, who was attempting to evade warrants inside a home on the 1600 block. Crisis negotiators attempted to convince Barnes to come out of the house. Three other people in the residence surrendered themselves to the police and Barnes barricaded himself in the home. Barnes will be facing multiple charges such as trafficking a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, and theft by deception to name a few. Kelsie Lindsey, 20, was also arrested and charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension for trying to hide Barnes. (KKTV)
- Bowling Green Parks and Recreation hosted its 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics Kentucky Arena 5 Spring Games on Saturday afternoon. Seven delegations participated in the event and kids as young as 8 years old participated in the various events. The events included a 10-100 meter walk or run, 200-800 meter run, softball throw, standing and running long jump, and shot put. The event was also a great chance for university students who are PE majors or physical therapy majors to volunteer and get experience within the community. (WBKO)
