5th Annual Colonel Ripley 5K Race Hits Annapolis Sunday

Some city streets will be closed Sunday morning during a 5K race that benefits injured and ill members of the military.

The 5th annual Colonel Ripley Memorial Fuel 4 Life 5K run takes place Sunday, starting at 9 a.m., and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 1,000 runners.

During the race, key Annapolis streets will be closed on a rolling basis to accommodate the runners.

Street closures are expected between the Main Street corridor and U.S. Naval Academy's Gate 1, starting at 9:05 a.m.

Runners should be in the neighborhoods listed below at these approximate times:

• Church Circle, Main Street to Randall Street and out King George Street from 9:05 to 9:30 a.m.
• Main Street from 9:05 to 9:25 a.m.
• West Annapolis at Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd. and Taylor Ave. from 9:10-9:35 a.m.
• Taylor Ave. at Rowe Blvd. from 9-9:10 a.m. and from 9:15-10:00 a.m.

The race benefits the Semper Fi Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support for injured and critically-ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
