AAMC Breaks Ground on Hackerman-Patz House

Some good news for those traveling to the for a long-term stay.

On April 13, the hospital broke ground on the construction space for the Hackerman-Patz House, which would accomodate patients and families who are visiting the hospital and traveling from afar, according to a news release.

The facility will be a home-like lodge on the hospital's campus, the release states. The 21,000 square-foot two-story building will feature 20 guest rooms with private bathrooms, three multi-purpose rooms, a laundry room, kitchenette and on-site parking.

"The Hackerman-Patz House will be a much-needed home away from home for many of our patients who travel from far and wide to undergo treatment at AAMC," said Victoria Bayless, president and CEO of the Anne Arundel Medical Center in the release.

The building, which is being constucted on a 1.4 acre space on Jennifer Road, is slated for an early-2013 opening, according to the release. Families would pay a small fee for accomodations.
