Annapolis Election Results As They Come In

Early results began being posted from polling precincts at 8:20 p.m. Follow along as results are made known.

9:43 p.m.—With 15 of 16 precincts reporting, Pantelides leads by 50 votes. The final precinct in Ward 7 has a machine with an error.

9:40 p.m.—
The Capital is reporting both Cohen and Pantelides don't think tonight's results will be enough to call the tight race. There are still more than 300 absentee votes unaccounted for.

9:30 p.m.—
Still awaiting the results of two precincts, but so far the next Annapolis City Council doesn't look much different. Of the winners we know so far, based on complete but unofficial results in wards with all precincts reporting, here's how things fall:
  • Ward 1: Joe Budge wins by a margin of 201 votes
  • Ward 2: Fred Paone wins by a margin of 51 votes
  • Ward 3: Rhonda Pindell Charles (uncontested)
  • Ward 4: Sheila Finlayson (uncontested)
  • Ward 5: Jared Littmann (uncontested)
  • Ward 6: Ken Kirby wins by a margin of 57 votes
  • Ward 8: Ross Arnett (uncontested)
9:22 p.m.—Ward 2 goes to incumbent alderman Fred Paone over challenger Kurt Riegel, 760 to 709.

9:16 p.m.—
A voting machine in Ward 7 is being reported as broken.

9:14 p.m.—
Ward 1 Precinct 1 goes to Cohen by a single vote (465 to 464). 10 of 16 precincts reporting.

9:10 p.m.—
Of the 3 wards that have all precincts reporting, here are where things stand in the mayoral race: 

Ward 3: Cohen (461) Pantelides (225)
Ward 4: Cohen (276) Pantelides (231)
Ward 6: Cohen (368) Pantelides (199)

Totals: Cohen (2366) Pantelides (2143)

9:04 p.m.—Incumbent Alderman Ken Kirby has won Ward 6 over challenger Steve Conn: 317 to 260 votes.

9 p.m.—
Mayor Josh Cohen has staked his campaign headquarters at Crush Wine Bar in downtown Annapolis. Just down the street at Phillips Seafood, challenger Mike Pantelides and his camp are counting results as they come in.

8:56 p.m.
The Capital is reporting that Joe Budge has won the Ward 1 election after challenger Allen Furth conceded.

8:54 p.m.
—With 25 percent of precincts reporting, the mayoral race is neck and neck, with challenger Mike Pantelides in the lead.

According to incomplete results posted on the City of Annapolis' website, Josh Cohen has 779 votes to challenger Mike Pantelides' 816. As of 8:54 p.m., 4 of 16 precincts were reporting votes.

Several races are being called in favor of incumbent aldermen who faced no challengers.
