Annapolis Fatal Shooting Suspect Arrested In Tampa Bay: Police

A fatal shooting suspect from Annapolis was just arrested in Tampa Bay, police said. She faces murder charges in Maryland.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Authorities said an Annapolis homicide suspect was arrested this week in Tampa Bay, Florida. The Annapolis Police Department announced the news Thursday.

Officers identified the suspect as 32-year-old Ronnisha Jacarra Harris of the Annapolis area.

Authorities said Harris faces charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and related offenses in the March shooting death of 48-year-old Raphael Hilton Johnson Jr. Police did not mention Johnson's hometown.

The U.S. Marshals Service found Harris in Florida and took her into custody on Wednesday, a press release said. The investigation also involved the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force - Baltimore and the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force – Tampa.

Police said marshals are bringing Harris back to Maryland.

Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson thanked his officers and the U.S. Marshals Service for their work in this case.

"I want our residents and visitors to know that the Annapolis Police Department will always do our very best to investigate and pursue justice for the victims of crime," Jackson said in the release.

The March 2 shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Obery Court, authorities said.

Police said they found Johnson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back of his head.

The Annapolis Fire Department pronounced the victim dead on the scene around 5:26 p.m., a press release said.

Detectives said they found security footage of the shooting.

"No good resolution to any conflict comes out of the barrel of a gun," Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley said in the release. "I thank Annapolis Police, Federal Marshals and members of the Task Force for their work in solving this case and apprehending the suspect. Still, it is a sad day. Please put down your weapons."
