Annapolis High Student-Teacher Dies in Wisconsin Car Wreck

Faculty and students are mourning the death of a student-teacher at Annapolis High School who was killed in a car wreck in Wisconsin on Sunday, according to school officials.

Hannah LeBlanc, 29, a student-teacher from Severna Park who had spent a year with students at AHS as part of her studies at the University of Maryland, died in a car wreck in Madison, WI. 

AHS principal Don Lilley sent home a letter to parents on Monday explaining the circumstances around her death, asking to speak to their children about the incident.

"Ms. LeBlanc had an ability to see the positive in every person she met, and quickly came to love our school, staff, and students," Lilley wrote. "She absolutely loved what she did here, and often arrived early and stayed late because she was so dedicated and passionate about what she was doing. She was here just a short time, but made an enormous impact on us all."

Anne Arundel County School System spokesman Bob Mosier said LeBlanc had been teaching at AHS since August. The program she was working out of at University of Maryland gave her the opportunity to receive hands-on training in the field. At times she would observe classes, and at others she would teach lessons, Mosier said.
