Police Arrest Annapolis Man in Kidnap Attempt

A man was arrested and charged with allegedly attempting to kidnap a boy from his home, Annapolis police said.

Montay Colbert, 27, allegedly broke into a residence in the 800 block of Brooke Court through an unlocked door and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, said Amy Miguez, an spokeswoman.

Colbert, of Annapolis, reportedly told the child's mother that the 5-year-old boy was actually his son, Miguez said. The mother told police that she didn't know the man, police said.

Colbert was charged with attempted kidnapping, third and fourth degree burglary, trespassing and second degree assault, according to a police news release. He is being held on a $175,000 bond.
