Police: Man Caught While Stealing Scrap Metal
A 43-year-old Annapolis man was confronted while attempting to steal scrap metal from a local business.

Annapolis police arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a storage cage to steal scrap metal on Sunday, according to a report.
Samuel Joyce, 43, of Annapolis, was arrested Sunday and charged with theft, second- and fourth-degree burglary, and two counts of assault and reckless endangerment after breaking into a storage business in the 1800 block of Margaret Avenue, the police report stated.
The owner of the business saw Joyce enter, and confronted him as authorities were being contacted, according to a release from police.

During the confrontation, the release states, Joyce assaulted the owner in his attempt to escape, but police officers arrived and caught up with him on foot a few blocks away on South Cherry Grove Avenue. A possible accomplice left the area in a gold Nissan Frontier pickup truck prior to police arriving.
Joyce is being held on $150,000 bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, according to the release.
