Annapolis Sends Support Personnel to Assist Ellicott City

Personnel was sent to assist after Saturday's flash flooding.

Annapolis, MD (8-1-16) Mayor Michael Pantelides announced that additional personnel left early this morning to assist in the aftermath of Saturday’s flash flooding in Howard County.

“Annapolis is ready to respond to all requests that come from Howard County,” Mayor Michael Pantelides said. “This is a devastating situation and the residents of Ellicott City need to know that Annapolis is prepared to support their needs throughout this difficult process. My prayers continue to go out for the two victims who lost their lives and to the many residents and business owners impacted by the disaster.”

At Howard County’s request, an Emergency Planner from the Annapolis Emergency Operation Center deployed at 7 a.m. this morning and will assist with recovery efforts through Wednesday, August 3.

This is the fourth person from Annapolis to be deployed to Howard County. Three specially trained first responders left for Howard County Saturday at midnight. One of the firefighters returned to Annapolis on Sunday, while the other two remain on location assisting with recovery.

In the meantime, Annapolis is ready to assist by sending Police or Public Works employees if the request is made.
