DWI Prompts Arrest Of Anne Arundel County Officer Near Ocean City: Police
An Anne Arundel police officer was arrested on DWI charges near Ocean City, authorities said. The off-duty corporal was suspended with pay.

BERLIN, MD — An officer from the Anne Arundel County Police Department was arrested Friday and charged with driving while impaired, authorities said.
The AACoPD identified the suspect as off-duty Cpl. M. Dameron, a 4-year police veteran assigned to the county's Bureau of Patrol.
The Maryland State Police stopped Dameron on State Route 90 near State Route 589 in Berlin, the AACoPD said.

Anne Arundel County police said the state trooper detected signs of impairment from Dameron, who also faces unnamed related charges.
The AACoPD said it suspended Dameron with pay pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards.

The police department does not release the full names of officers charged with crimes until the investigation is complete. Maryland court records do not yet list any recent charges against an M. Dameron, so we could not immediately confirm the accused officer's first name.
