City Helps Electric Tour Buses Charge Up at Ram's Head

The city's third electric vehicle charging station was unveiled Wednesday in front of Ram's Head Tavern on West Street.

Tour buses and electric-powered cars touring downtown Annapolis will have a new, dedicated area to charge up, thanks to the efforts of city officials.

Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen and Transportation Director Richard Newell unveiled  the city's third electric charging station—in front of Ram's Head Tavern—at a press conference on Wednesday.

The stations provide about 50 amps of power to electric vehicles, and were paid for through an $18,000 recovery act grant, Cohen said.

The city has agreed to pay for the energy costs for the first few months, after which the cost will be split between the city and the owners of Ram's Head Tavern, city officials said.
