City Needs 65 More Election Judges by June 21
A total of about 165 election judges are needed to operate polling places. The city has 100 so far.

City officials have just two weeks to find 65 more judges for the upcoming city elections in September and November.
A total of 165 election judges are needed to operate polling places from 5:45 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the city's various locations. But as of this week, City of Annapolis spokeswoman Rhonda Wardlaw said 65 more election judges were needed to meet the requirement.
"The Election Judge must be reliable, courteous, able to follow procedures exactly, and above all, possess good judgment," Wardlaw said of a judge's characteristics.

What's it take to be an election judge?
- Must be a registered voter in the City of Annapolis or Anne Arundel County, and be able to speak, read and write in English
- A judge may not be a candidate or campaign manager for a candidate, or a treasurer for a candidate or political committee
- A judge may not engage in any partisan or political activity while on duty
All judges are compensated for their services on Election Day, and for attending a training class. Chief judges are paid $208. All other judges are paid $160, plus $25 for the mandatory training session.
