Cohen, Pantelides Face Off for Mayor in November
Read on for the results of Tuesday's primary election.
Tuesday's Annapolis primary election narrowed the candidates for mayor down from five to two—Josh Cohen and Mike Pantelides, who will square off in November for the general election.
Cohen won against Democratic candidate Bevin Buchheister with a margin of 400 votes, and Pantelides had a 300 vote margin over his closest competitor, Bob O'Shea. Frank Bradley secured 41 votes in total, coming in third for the slot.
Ward 1 alderman Joe Budge won the Democratic ticket over Tom McCarthy by a few hundred votes. He will face off against Joe Furth in November. And Ward 2 alderman candidate Kurt Riegel secured the Democratic ticket against Tim Mennuti by a margin of 170 votes. He will face incumbent alderman Fred Paone in the general election.

After the victory, nearly each candidate had something to say on Twitter or Facebook.
"While I am very proud to win my first election ever, I can't forget that the primary is really a mid-term exam. See you all on the campaign trail tomorrow!" said Ward 1 Alderman Joe Budge.
"Thank you #Annapolis voters. It is an honor to be your Democratic nominee for a second term as Mayor," said Mayor Josh Cohen, who also had words for his competitor, Buchheister."I congratulate @BevinForMayor on a substantive campaign and thank her for her graciousness. I value her input and ideas as we move forward."
Republican primary victor Mike Pantelides thanked his supporters and the venue for his late night celebrations, Paul's Homewood Cafe.
"We will sweep Annapolis clean!" Pantelides wrote on Facebook.
Buchheister told The Capital that her only regret was that she didn't start her campaign sooner. She said she will support Cohen in the November general election.
The general election will be Nov. 5.
