Community Welcomes Home Charity Bike Rider Wednesday

On Wednesday from 4-6 p.m., a welcome home celebration will kick off at Whole Foods in Annapolis, where his journey began.

A crowd of friends and family will greet Jacob Landis back home on Wednesday in Annapolis, where his 10,500-mile cross-country journey began six months ago.

In April, Landis set out on his bike from Annapolis to visit all major league baseball stadiums in the US. His goal was to help others who have lost their hearing by raising awareness of cochlear implants, like the one Landis got himself.

Just a few hundred miles shy of achieving his goal, Landis was struck by a passing tractor-trailer, sending him to the hospital. Doctors told him that he wouldn't be able to ride his bike for at least two weeks.

Landis finished the rest of his journey on foot, ending at the Miami Marlins stadium in Florida.

"I've officially finished #JacobsRide segment of the journey, there's still a long way 2 go, 2 raise awareness & donations 4 #cochlearimplants," Landis Tweeted on Sept. 24 after the stadium visit.
