Edgewater Restaurant Stabbing Followed Comment On Worker's Speed: Report
An Edgewater restaurant worker stabbed his boss, who told him to go faster, a report said. The suspect is also accused of punching a female.

EDGEWATER, MD — The manager of a new Edgewater burrito restaurant told an employee working the grill to "go faster," leading the worker to punch the supervisor this weekend, The Baltimore Banner reported, citing charging documents.
The Banner said the suspect, 29-year-old Marquette Davon Ball of Annapolis, is accused of then stabbing his 43-year-old male boss in the abdomen with a 3.5-inch knife before running out the rear exit of Bubbakoo's Burritos.
"Other folks were attending to the victim when the officers arrived," Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesperson Marc Limansky told Patch in a Thursday email. "However, I cannot confirm where they work."

Ball is also accused of punching a female coworker during the altercation, Limansky told Patch. She did not require hospitalization.
Medics took the manager to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, officers said. Limansky told Patch the supervisor was in critical but stable condition, the last he heard.

Limansky told The Banner the suspect had been in contact with his mother, who told officers that Ball remained near Bubbakoo's, which opened two weeks ago.
Authorities found Ball hiding in a dumpster behind a nearby sushi restaurant, The Banner said.
"We're aware of the serious incident that occurred at our Edgewater franchise location regarding a staff member and manager," a Bubbakoo's spokesperson told Patch in a Monday email. "Our thoughts go out to the team that was involved."

Police said the stabbing happened Saturday around 1:45 p.m. in Bubbakoo's, which opened Nov. 6 at 145 Mitchells Chance Road. That's located in the Main Street at South River Colony shopping center.
"We want to thank the staff and first responders for their quick response. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement to support their investigation," the Bubbakoo's statement said. "We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation."
Online court records show that Ball was charged with:
- Attempted first-degree murder (Felony)
- Attempted second-degree murder (Felony)
- First-degree assault (Felony)
- Two counts of second-degree assault (Misdemeanor)
- Dangerous weapon-conceal (Misdemeanor)
The case file says Judge Thomas J. Pryal on Monday ordered Ball to be held without bond until his trial.
That same day, a competency evaluation was requested in the case, the record says.
The Office of the Public Defender, which represents Ball, declined Patch's request for a comment after the arrest. The office has not responded to Patch's follow-up request after the charging documents revealed more details.
