ANNAPOLIS, MD — A chiropractor turned florist is moving her business out of her Annapolis house and into her first storefront.

Fig & Flower plans to open in Eastport at 413 Fourth St. in six to eight weeks.

Founder and Owner Denise Mills opened Fig & Flower in her Eastport home about a year and a half ago. She thinks the new shop will offer "more visibility" and better fit her business's needs.

"I was getting a little bit busier, and I really like to do retail flowers and smaller events," Mills told Patch in a Tuesday interview.

Fig & Flower will fill the vacancy left by Shoppe Details & Design, which merged its shop with its showroom in late December 2024 and moved all operations to its location at Annapolis City Marina at 410 Severn Ave., Suite 114.

Mills was a chiropractor for over 20 years before chasing her passion for flowers. She trained at prestigious institutions, including FlowerSchool New York and Flower School Catherine Muller in London.

With floral designs for Gucci, Vogue, Chopard and Tiffany, Mills has a high-profile portfolio.

Mills is originally from Michigan. She later lived in Bethesda. At the time, she and her husband had a second house in Annapolis. The couple moved to Naptown full-time when their youngest of five children went to college about two years ago.

A fan of her new home, Mills already has plans for her shop.

"I really like Eastport. I'll also be able to teach some flower classes there," Mills said.

Fig & Flower specializes in home deliveries, subscriptions, corporate installations, stem bars and intimate weddings.

Outside the shop, Mills enjoys boating, cooking, playing pickleball and spending time with her two dogs.

Hyatt Commercial, which represented the property owner, on Monday announced Fig & Flower's upcoming move. The leasing team consisted of George Shenas and Collin Mercier.
