Free 2-hour Parking in Downtown Annapolis Runs Until January
Annapolis is keeping with the tradition of giving away free parking at its downtown meters from Thanksgiving to Jan. 1.

The city is continuing a longstanding holiday tradition by offering two hours of free parking downtown on select meters throughout the city.
The tradition will end at the start of the new year.
“Downtown Annapolis is a magical place during the holidays,” said Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen. “Offering free on-street parking is one way the city can contribute to enduring appeal of Annapolis during the holidays.”
Only meters with two-hour rates will be offering free parking. Those meters can be found along Main Street, Francis Street, West Street, Maryland Avenue, Prince George Street, City Dock and Market Space, as well as the Donner lot, adjacent to the former Fawcett's on Compromise Street.
Cohen said city transportation officials are also working on flexible parking rates for the holidays. These new prices will be up for consideration by the next administration, the outgoing mayor said.
"Market pricing is absolutely necessary to achieve better use of our parking facilities,” Cohen said.
Cohen's final full day in office is Dec. 1. Mayor-elect Mike Pantelides will be sworn in on Dec. 2.
