Fundraiser Helps Bring Home Mother, Child, Killed in Texas Wreck

According to the online fundraiser, the funds will pay for transportation home, funeral service fees, and cremation.

An online fundraiser at the website GoFundMe is helping pay for transportation, funeral and cremation services for a family formerly of Annapolis who died in a Texas wreck in August.

Over the course of 28 days, 63 donors contributed a total of $3,000, meeting the goal to bring home Sherice Baker and her son Skykeme, 12. The two were were among four killed in a wrong-way crash in Texas on Aug. 3.

The family had recently moved from Cape St. Claire in Annapolis to Texas.

Since death, their bodies have remained nearly 1,500 miles away from their family in a Texas funeral home. The raised money is intended to reunite the family members in Maryland in order to properly say goodbye.

According to the online fundraiser, the funds will pay for transportation home, funeral service fees, and cremation.

Some of the amounts were from friends and family, others were anonymous and included donations between $10 and $625.
