ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Anne Arundel County man accused of hitting a state trooper's car and fleeing was held without bond Tuesday, court records say.

The Maryland State Police accused 27-year-old Ryan Daniel Heim of Annapolis of pulling in front of an unmarked patrol vehicle, reversing into the front end of the trooper's car for unknown reasons and fleeing.

Authorities said the incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Monday on Route 50 at Route 450 in Annapolis. A press release noted that the trooper was working an assignment for the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.

Police said Heim, the driver and sole occupant of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, continued traveling eastbound on Route 50.

Troopers said the Anne Arundel County Police Department deployed stop sticks and brought the truck to a safe stop shortly before 1:40 a.m. near Olivia Lane and Glenns Road in Severna Park.

Authorities said Heim was arrested on the scene without incident. Nobody was hurt in the encounter.

Police said they found a loaded handgun in Heim's truck.

Records say Heim was charged with felony second-degree assault and seven misdemeanor counts, ranging from gun charges to malicious destruction of property worth more than $1,000.

The case file says Judge Thomas V. Miller III ordered Heim to be held without bond until his trial, scheduled for July 30.
