Indian Creek School Celebrates 40 Years

The Crownsville school has grown from 33 students in its first year to 600 today.

Indian Creek School celebrated its 40th anniversary this month with cake and celebrations.

The Crownsville independent school first opened its doors in 1973. At the time there were only 33 students across the three grades—nursery, kindergarten and first grade.

Today there are more than 600 students and a total of 14 grades offered at the school.

The birthday celebrations kicked off Sept. 3, and included birthday cake for everyone. The school's solo choir also sang “Happy Birthday” at both lunches that day.

The celebrations will also tie in to the school's annual Spirit Week and Creekfest, according to a press release.
