Labor Day Weekend Weather Forecast in Maryland: Showers and Hermine Impact Threatens Holiday

We'll finish the week with mostly sunny skies, but storm threats — and the questionable course for Hurricane Hermine — could mean a cloudy, windy and rainy forecast for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday will be mostly sunny and barely 80 degrees, with winds reaching near 10 mph. Saturday brings a chance of rain after 9 a.m. under mostly cloudy skies. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph.

Things will begin to clear out Sunday. There's a 50 percent chance of rain, with a high near 74 degrees.

On Labor Day the skies will start clearing and the temperature will climb to 81 degrees.

Hurricane Hermine was holding steady as a Category 1 storm Thursday evening as it approached Florida's coast. The storm is expected to cross Georgia and the Carolinas by Saturday afternoon, and then head into the Atlantic.

Any significant impact from the storm should be limited to the Maryland coast, according to weather service forecasters. But they note, "a westward shift to the forecast track would lead to more significant impacts to the area."

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind 9 to 11 mph.

Saturday: A chance of rain after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Labor Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 81.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 85.
