Married Couple Opens New Store In Anne Arundel Amid Pandemic

This Anne Arundel County couple hopes to prove that new businesses can flourish during the pandemic.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has shaken the businesses world for months, but that isn't stopping one Anne Arundel County couple. Amy Tech and her husband Seng are openening a new baby retail shop in Annapolis.

The store, called Dream Baby Decor, had a soft opening on Nov. 13. It will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 1 at 11 a.m.

"While our world is facing an unfortunate pandemic, babies are still being born every day," Tech said in a press release. "We believe that our time is now to make a little difference in the world for families who are having a different experience in welcoming babies into their lives."

The 1,700-square foot-shop sells clothing, decorations, gear and gifts for babies, toddlers and parents. Dream Baby Decor will also launch an online store.

The website is already live with information about the shop. The e-store portion of the webpage will open in January of 2021.

"We are most excited about having the ability to serve our community with an alternative shopping venue from the typically bigger box stores," Tech said, noting that she plans to hire local workers.

Dream Baby Decor sells products from the following brands, among others:

  • Dolce Babi
  • UppaBaby
  • Little Hometown
  • Tender Leaf Toys
  • JuJuBe
  • JJ Cole
  • Itzy Ritzy
  • Finn & Emma

"We hand selected items from brands we trust, and products we would have utilized for our own three boys," Tech said. "Dream Baby Decor is loyal to our vendors because we believe in their products."

Given the current coronavirus regulations, the store operates at half capacity, requires mask usage and supplies hand sanitizer.

Dream Baby Decor is located in the Design District of Annapolis at 508 Chinquapin Round Road. The shop is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Patrons may also book the store for small-group or individual shopping hours. These private sessions will be available before and after normal business hours.

Once the e-store goes live, customers can pick up online orders at the shop.
