Maryland DoIT Launches Agency-Wide Food Drive for 'Day to Serve'

The month-long event began on Sept. 10 and runs through Oct. 10, benefitting families in need.

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) has launched an agency-wide food drive in honor of Gov. Larry Hogan’s Maryland Day to Serve initiative. The month-long event began on Sept. 10 and runs through Oct. 10 and benefits families in need in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County and Baltimore City.

DoIT employees in the Crownsville offices have collection boxes in place and are working directly with the staff and volunteers at the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Employees located in Baltimore City and Baltimore County were given a detailed listing of food pantries by location, allowing them to choose a non-profit that was convenient to their individual location.

“I believe it is imperative to participate in Maryland’s Day to Serve. Our agency-wide food drive allows us to give back directly to the communities surrounding our offices and our employees. Many communities benefit from the assistance provided by area food pantries, especially as we begin approaching the holiday season. Helping folks stock their shelves at this crucial time is a meaningful exercise in community enrichment,” said Secretary David Garcia.
