Naval Academy Staff 'Monitoring Situation' at Navy Yard in DC
Appropriate security measures are being taken at the academy, officials said.

Following Monday morning’s shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC, the US Naval Academy issued the following statement:
"The Naval Academy is aware and monitoring the current situation at the Washington Navy Yard. We are taking all of the appropriate measures to ensure the continued safety and security of our midshipmen, faculty, staff and our visitors."
Joint Base Andrews and Fort Meade have both issued similar statements, saying they are keeping an eye on developments.
Fort Meade officials have also increased security measures at gates of the installation in response to the deadly shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC.
