Navy Birthday Parade Canceled Due to Federal Closure

Other birthday celebrations will continue as scheduled.

A birthday celebration for the Naval Academy's 238th birthday has been canceled—another casualty of the federal government shutdown.

The celebration would have included a parade down Maryland Avenue and a musical tribute on the steps of the State House on Monday at 4 p.m.

Other Naval Academy birthday celebrations will continue as scheduled, including a birthday concert Wednesday at The Music Center at Strathmore Hall, and the Navy Ball on Saturday at the Grant Hyatt in Washington D.C.

The full schedule of celebrations can be viewed online at the USNA's website.
