Obituary for Patricia Cunningham, Coach Killed in Wreck
Patricia Cunningham died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident on Riva Road.

The obituary for an Annapolis High School assistant coach who was killed Wednesday in a bicycle accident in Riva reviews her extensive involvement in area sports and fitness.

Patricia Carolyn Naughton Cunningham “Trish”, age 50, a resident of Annapolis died on Wednesday, August 21 after being involved in a bicycle accident in Riva.
Born on March 22, 1963 in Bethesda to John and Carolyn Naughton, Trish was a 1985 graduate of Loyola University. A homemaker most of her life, she also worked at the Annapolis Running Shop and since 2011 has been an assistant track and field and cross country coach at Annapolis High School. In July of 2013, Trish completed her first duathalon and over the years has won numerous competitive running age group awards and was often ranked in her running age group regionally (MD/VA/DC area). She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis and also was a St. Mary’s Rec League field hockey and lacrosse coach. She served as St. Mary's field hockey commissioner for 4 years. Trish enjoyed running, cooking, nutrition and cycling.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jerry Cunningham; children, Morgan, Benjamin and Avery Cunningham; sisters, Kathy, Sharon, Jackie and Eileen; and a brother, John. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Susie Cunningham, brother-in-law, Brian Cunningham and sister-in-law, Lisa Cunningham.
Friends are invited to Trish’s Life Celebration from 6 to 8pm on Sunday, August 25 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am on Monday, August 26 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Food Link-Maryland, 2666 Riva Rd Annapolis, MD 21401.
