Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Annapolis, Police Say

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, according to police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A pedestrian struck by a car Thursday night in Annapolis has died, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

The pedestrian has been identified as 54-year-old Gerome Cannon.

Police said around 8:50 p.m., officers responded to southbound Ritchie Highway at Arnold Road for a crash involving a pedestrian.

An investigation revealed that Cannon crossed the southbound lanes of Ritchie Highway against the traffic signal, police said.

Police said Cannon was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and walking from east to west from the median when he was struck in the right lane by a 2016 Ford Focus.

Cannon was pronounced dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Police said the driver of the Ford remained at the scene and later complained of minor back and neck pain. His family members arrived on scene and transported him to Anne Arundel Medical Center for further treatment.

Police said Cannon was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
