ANNAPOLIS, MD — A Severna Park High School jazz band volunteer has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to three counts of sex offense, admitting he had a sexual relationship with a female student, authorities say.
Wilbur Jesse Hildebrand, 57, from the 100 block of Solomons Ridge Court in Millersville, was charged on three counts of Fourth Degree Sex Offense, according to Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams.
Police say Hildebrand asked the student to send him nude photographs, which the student did. The case came to light in October of 2016, when a former Severna Park High School student disclosed engaging in a sexual relationship with Hildebrand. During a search of Hildebrand's home on Oct. 24, police seized several electronic devices that were examined and found to contain images that belonged to the suspect.

At the time of the relationship, Hildebrand was a volunteer with Severna Park High School's jazz band, and frequently provided transportation to the victim, prosecutors say. He began requesting sexual favors from her while in his car, his home, and her home. This exploitation began when the victim was 16 years old.
"Wilbur Hildebrand leveraged his position of authority to take advantage of a minor," Wes Adams said in a statement. "His ongoing pattern of predatory behavior was a threat to our community. I'm grateful to Judge Jaklitsch for showing that such actions will not be taken lightly."
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 1 for Hildebrand charging him with sex abuse of a minor, perverted practice, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. Hildebrand was arrested without incident on Feb. 2 at his residence.
Hildebrand pleaded guilty to three counts of Fourth Degree Sex Offense on July 6, 2017. He was sentenced to 6 months per count, for a total of 18 months in jail.
