MARYLAND — Storms and rain will start to move into Maryland on Friday afternoon, setting up the state for a wet weekend filled with thunder and multiple rounds of showers, according to the latest forecasts.
A slow-moving cold front enters the state on Friday and is expected to spawn showers and thunderstorms, particularly west of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the National Weather Service said in its latest forecast. Thunderstorm activity is expected to spread east and reach the Baltimore area by evening.
A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for portions of Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard, Harford, Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland.

"An isolated severe thunderstorm or two is possible this afternoon into early this evening for areas west of Route 15," the NWS said.
On Saturday, numerous showers and some thunderstorms are expected to move through the region between about 4 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Capital Weather Gang said in its latest forecast. Showers will be spotty through the evening hours. Rain chances continue through Sunday.

"It will probably be dry more often than not, but we can’t rule out showers or thundershowers — possibly with heavy downpours — in the morning or afternoon," the Capital Weather Gang said.

Friday: Scattered thunderstorms after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday Night: A slight chance of thunderstorms before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. East wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 83.
