MARYLAND — Maryland will remember 2024 as a year of change. It was the year that the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, and the Baltimore Orioles were sold.

It was the year police found the suspect accused of killing a mother in Bel Air. It was also the year that a Towson native was arrested on charges of fatally shooting a health insurance CEO.

Maryland mourned the loss of a student shot at Joppatowne High School, the victims killed in house explosions and a child who died in an airborne bounce house. Residents honored football players killed in a crash, a boxer fatally shot before his pro debut and a soldier whose suicide sparked a $50,000 fundraiser.
