UPDATE: 2 Men Shot in Annapolis Apartment Complex

Police say they found two men in separate locations, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Updated (1:45 p.m.)—Police believe two men were injured after gunshots were fired in a crowd at an apartment complex off Forest Drive on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Annapolis police responded to Bens Drive after reports of shots fired in the area at about 4:30 p.m. After investigation, police later found two injured men in separate locations.

Police believe a crowd formed around a fight in front of one of the apartment buildings. An unknown suspect then started firing into the crowd and struck two men, Lowell Hawkins, 23, of Millersville, and Marcus Johnson, 22, of Annapolis.

Hawkins was found on Forest Drive and was taken to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, suffering from a gunshot to the torso.

Lowell was found at the Eastport Fire Station, and was also transported to the Shock Trauma Center. Police believe he was dropped off at the fire station by an unknown party.  Lowell was shot multiple times in his legs, and once in the back, police said.

Neither man's injuries are considered life threatening, police said.

The department's Criminal Investigation Section is handling the investigation into the incident.
