USNA Mourns Civilian Employee Found Dead in King Hall Kitchen

A female USNA food service employee was found dead at 5 a.m. Friday in the kitchen.

A female Naval Academy civilian employee was found unresponsive in the Academy’s dining facility Friday morning.

A USNA spokesman declined to discuss the details surrounding the woman's death or her identity, saying they are being withheld out of respect for the privacy of the family.

"The entire Naval Academy family is deeply saddened by this event," according to a statement from the academy.

The employee, a member of the USNA food service staff, was found in the King Hall kitchen area at approximately 5 a.m., according to a news release. CPR was administered on the scene by another employee until paramedics arrived. 

The employee was rushed to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

NCIS is investigating the death, which is standard procedure for any death that occurs on military installations, a spokesman said.
