UPDATE: Water Main Break on Duke of Gloucester Damages Sidewalk
City officials hoped to have water back to customers by noon Monday, a city spokesperson said.

Updated (1:05 p.m.)—Both lanes of Duke of Gloucester Street reopened just after noon Monday, following a burst pipe, a city official said.
Flooding damaged a large span of the street's sidewalk and denied water to about 50 homes overnight, according to City of Annapolis spokeswoman Rhonda Wardlaw.
Wardlaw said the Annapolis Department of Public Works was hopeful they could have the water back on by noon Monday.
The break occurred when a valve burst Sunday at about 8 p.m. near the intersection with Compromise Street, a busy thoroughfare for any traveler downtown.
