16 Hopefuls Apply for County Executive Seat

The Anne Arundel County Council will interview applicants and make a selection on Feb. 21.

There were zero on Wednesday and five on Thursday, but by the noon deadline on Friday, 16 candidates had filled out applications to be the next Anne Arundel county executive.

The following list of applicants was provided by Anne Arundel County Council's administrative officer Elizabeth Jones:

  • Tom Angelis, former executive candidate
  • Phil Bissett, former state delegate
  • David Cordle, former Annapolis alderman
  • Ingrid Dean
  • Kendel Ehrlich, former first lady of Maryland
  • Ron Elfenbein, former state senate candidate for District 30
  • John Gary, former county executive
  • John R. Hammond, acting county executive
  • Rick Hoover, a Glen Burnie resident
  • Patrick Jameson, former state trooper
  • Curtis Kingsland, an Odenton resident
  • Laura Neuman
  • Steven R. Schuh, delegate from Pasadena representing District 31
  • Millard T. Snowden Sr., a Glen Burnie resident.
  • James Wilhelm, former congressional candidate for District 3
  • Derick Young

Five of the candidates were at a forum in Odenton on Thursday night, and Patch has video footage of each making their pitch for the position.

The council is scheduled to interview applicants and select a new county executive at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast live. For information on your local government channel, check the Anne Arundel County website.
