Pickard To Run For Anne Arundel County Executive After Serving On Council, School Board

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — This weekend, Allison Pickard will announce that she will run for Anne Arundel County executive in 2026.

Pickard, a Millersville Democrat, is the current chair of the County Council. Since December 2018, Pickard has represented District 2, which also covers parts of Severn and Glen Burnie. Pickard previously served on the Anne Arundel County Board of Education in 2015 and 2016.

Pickard hopes to succeed current County Executive Steuart Pittman (D), who is in his second term and cannot run for a third.

Some of Pickard's top priorities include adding affordable housing options and revitalizing the Glen Burnie Town Center.

"I believe in creating a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future for all residents, focusing on areas such as public safety, economic growth, education, and infrastructure," Pickard said Wednesday on Facebook. "Drawing on my experience, in my professional life, volunteer service and elected office, I am ready to lead with accountability, collaboration, and results-driven policies."

Pickard will officially announce her election bid this Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Moose Athletic Club, located in Glen Burnie at 1911 Crain Highway South.

Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food donations for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.
