SEVERNA PARK, MD — A Severna Park and Baltimore hardware store will celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend.

Zeskind's Hardware and Millwork, a family-owned business, is now run by a fourth generation and is expanding into custom doors and windows.

"What we do here is highly service-oriented," owner Rick Miller Jr. told the Capital Gazette. "That’s why people still want to buy from local family businesses … we’re supporting the local community through various charity organizations … that whole synergy of local business supporting local communities, that’s really what’s going to set us apart."

Sam Zeskind opened Zeskind's Hardware in 1925 in Baltimore's Carrollton Ridge neighborhood. He sold the business in 1973 to his grandson, Rick Miller Sr., and his granddaughter-in-law, Debi Miller. Their son, Rick Miller Jr., took the helm in 2008.

The business's headquarters/showroom is now in Severna Park, but its manufacturing and distribution facility is still located across the street from the original Baltimore store.

Miller Jr. has grown the company from three employees to nearly 50, the Capital Gazette reported. Zeskind's now ships custom works across the Mid-Atlantic and to Florida, Maine and Texas, the newspaper said, noting that Miller Jr. plans to soon expand nationwide.

"This milestone is not just about longevity—it’s about the people, partnerships, and passion that have brought us here," Miller Jr. told the Hardware + Building Supply Dealer trade publication. "We are honored to celebrate 100 years with our dedicated team, loyal customers, and the communities that have supported us through every chapter."

Zeskind's will celebrate its achievement Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Severna Park at 500 Ritchie Highway. There will be a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. with the Greater Severna Park & Arnold Chamber of Commerce.

Three food trucks will serve bites.

Glazey Days Donuts is covering 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tacos Friday will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Go Melvo Snoballs will take it from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Napoleon Grills and Milwaukee Tools will have demonstrations at 11:30 a.m.

A Napoleon Rogue 425 gas grill valued at $800 will be raffled off at the end of the day. Entrants do not need to stay on site all day to win.

Bob Appolin will lead free classes on wall and ceiling painting at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

"Over the decades, Zeskind’s grew from a local shop to a trusted Mid-Atlantic supplier for doors, windows, and fine hardware," the store said on Facebook. "Always keeping the same values: Stand behind every product we sell, respect the trades, treat every project like it’s our own. A lot has changed in 100 years, but our mission hasn’t."
