PASADENA, MD - A Pasadena house fire killed a man and hospitalized a woman Friday, officials said. A firefighter lieutenant also went to a hospital with minor burns.
The fire department identified the deceased as 72-year-old Chen Fa Lu. This was the county's first fire death in 2024.
The injured woman is expected to survive, but a press release said the flames displaced her from the home. The Anne Arundel County Crisis Responses Team and the American Red Cross are assisting her.

Firefighters said they were called to the 500 block of Kintop Road around 3:15 a.m.
Crews said they arrived at the one-story, single-family home less than seven minutes later.
First responders said they worked to extinguish the blaze while simultaneously rescuing the trapped man.

The woman was able to evacuate on her own, the press release said.
The fire department said it took the man, who was in critical condition at that point, and the injured woman to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. The man died soon after at the hospital.
Investigators ruled that the accidental fire started in the basement after a faulty electric issue.
They did not estimate how much damage the blaze caused.
Firefighters said the home had working smoke detectors that activated properly.
A crew of 48 said it controlled the flames within 30 minutes.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department thanked the BWI Airport Fire & Rescue Department for assisting its response.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department and Baltimore Gas & Electric also helped on the scene.
