Wood-Fired Pizzeria Opening 2nd MD Location
Anne Arundel County natives are opening their second pizzeria in Maryland. This location offers wood-fired pizza and an expanded bar.

EDGEWATER, MD — A wood-fired pizzeria with local ownership is opening Tuesday in Edgewater, marking the expanding eatery's second location in Maryland.
Timber Pizza Company will make its debut in a 2,169-square-foot space at 3279 Solomons Island Road. That's located in The Market South River Colony shopping center, which is anchored by Weis Markets.
The restaurant's pizza oven is emblazoned with tiles reading "Timber Edgewater." There's also a mural of a fishing yacht and decorations for the Maryland Terrapins, paying homage to the business's local roots.

Pizza options include classic cheese, Margherita and pesto pies. Adventurous alternatives feature spicy jam, strawberries and braised pork. The menu also features salads and empanadas. For dessert, there is an ice cream platter served with house-made, wood-fired cones.
The expansion comes about a year after Timber opened its first Maryland outpost in Annapolis.

Timber Co-Owner Chris Brady is an Annapolis native. He founded Timber Pizza with his partner, Andrew Dana, in 2014.
The Edgewater location will be run by the same team as Timber Annapolis: Operating partner Aaron Tompkins of the District of Columbia, Brady and Travis Katski of Hardwood.
"Between Travis and I we have so many friends and connections in Edgewater and have long thought of this as a perfect community for Timber Pizza," Brady told Patch in a Monday email. "The love in Annapolis has been incredible and we've had so many people excited for us to continue to expand in Anne Arundel County."
Brady described the Edgewater Timber as having the "same menu and vibe as Annapolis with more bar seating, more space for larger groups and unlimited parking."
"We just launched our summer menu and Timber Time with $5 drafts, $6 wine and $7 cocktails from open 'til 6 PM Monday-Thursday," Brady said.

Timber started as a food truck with a mobile pizza oven in a 1967 Chevrolet pickup.
Brady and Dana then partnered with Chef Dani Moreira, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, and opened their first brick-and-mortar location in Petworth, Washington, D.C. in 2016.
Timber later added locations in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as in Virginia in McLean, Arlington and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The business still has food trucks in the Washington, D.C. and Richmond metro areas.
The growth is continuing down South, where Timber is opening in Charleston, South Carolina on July 22.
"We couldn't be more excited to join the Edgewater community and bring Timber Pizza to this fantastic location," Brady said in a March statement. "We're incredibly grateful for the support from Hyatt Commercial in making this happen, and we can't wait to share our love of pizza with new friends and neighbors."
The Market South River Colony has undergone some changes in recent years.
Kmart closed in August 2020, leaving a sizable vacancy in the shopping center. The Keith Corporation acquired the former Kmart space in February 2024 and opened a Tractor Supply Company in part of the 117,700-square-foot building.
The rest of the shopping center was acquired by The Reliable Group in April 2024.
Greek restaurant Chris's Charcoal Pit announced its move to the center in December 2022, a year after its flagship Annapolis restaurant closed following tornado damage.
"Timber Pizza's expansion into Edgewater is an exciting addition to Market at South River Colony," said George Shenas, Vice President at Hyatt Commercial. "Their reputation for high-quality food and strong community engagement makes them a perfect fit for this thriving retail center."
